About the Show
Basement Girl tells the story of Jovana, a PhD student who moves into what seems like the ideal basement apartment in Kingston to focus on her studies. But her peace is soon disturbed by strange noises that keep her awake at night. As Jovana navigates her new life in Canada, she begins to question reality, guided by an elegant landlady, a genius professor with cryptic advice, and a savvy urban friend. With a soundtrack shifting from experimental to pop, this darkly comedic play explores what it means to “fit in.” Will Jovana find peace—or lose herself in the process?
