Call for IBPOC Artists

The Kick & Push Festival and Bad New Days are seeking 2-3 performers who identify as Indigenous, Black, or People of Colour for an outdoor, promenade-style puppet theatre piece to be developed and performed in downtown Kingston, Ontario during the 2022 Kick & Push Festival. These are paid, contract positions, and part of the Kick & Push IBPOC internship program. Applicants must be available between August 8th and 20th, 2022. Successful applicants will have some experience or training in movement/physical theatre, training and experience in puppetry is a bonus as performers will be trained to operate the puppet. The puppet is in the style of a bunraku puppet, a fully articulated doll puppet that takes three people to operate. Puppet operation will be the most important aspect of these roles, but performers will also play various roles in the piece.
